Alex Gault 2005 - Aintree - June 2005.........................................................................................................Back To Index
The Team took the chance to visit the 2nd round of the Aintree Motorcycle clubs championship held on the 11th June.
Alex raced here last year and really enjoys the surroundings (private joke, we can not print why).
It was also good to meet up with Alex's old team mate Alex Heaton who was racing there on the Specialised Coatings 125GP Honda.
Another BSB contender Robbie Brown who had also seen the chance to test some parts and a few other lads Alex raced with last year (Get well Stuart Reece, Stuart came off in race one and had to go to hospital with a suspected broken wrist).
The Aintree circuit has one of the fastest straits in the country (good practice for the BSB round at Snetterton) and the club is full of helpful friendly people & I must admit a fair few fans of Alex. We have always enjoyed our visits here and this was no exception.
The day stayed dry and warm although very overcast and apart from a unforgivable mistake by his mechanic for race 2 (the qualifier for the up to 500cc class), we all had a very successful & enjoyable day.
Alex won best junior + 1st in the 125cc and fourth from the back row of the grid in the 500cc race due to that unforgivable mistake by his mechanic in the qualifying race.
OK! Ok! It was “ME” I forgot to secure the petrol tank and Alex had to pull out of the race on lap 2 (so much to do – so little brain to remember it all with), another lesson learnt; don't be distracted when working on the bike.
Great circuit and a great club, unfortunately we will have to miss the next round as we are at BSB Snetterton but hope to be back there for round four on the 13th August.
